Have you ever found yourself finding something in a grocery store and wondering, “Can I score these at a better price?” I know I do, especially when I am on a mission to make my budget stretch further than ever. As a frugal spender, always looking to save money at every turn, I have compiled a list of budget-friendly Halloween decor that is sure to get you into the spooky spirit without breaking the bank.

Amazon
Now, it might not be a shocker, but Amazon is a treasure trove of Halloween decorations that won’t make your wallet scream in terror. Just take a look at our previous post, Ronni and I – Xavier here (Ronni’s husband) – managed to snag a heap of so many Halloween decorations under the very low budget of $37! You read that right, $37! Well, we make sure to maximize every gift card we can get our hands on.
In one spook-tacular evening, Ronni and I transformed our porch for Halloween. We draped stretchy spider webbing across most of our porch, dangled witch hats that sway in the breeze, posed our tiny skeleton in one of the webs, and added some 3D bats for good measure. For $37, we got so much coverage for such a low budget. Our neighbors could not help but comment on how well it came together as they strolled by. A porch full of Halloween goodness at a budget-friendly price? That’s a win in my book, and it’s all thanks to Amazon.
My favorite find? It was the posable skeleton! For $10, this comically small faux skeleton is perfect! Ronni and I even joked that we need to get more skeletons next year. Why, you may ask. Well, you can pose them in any situation you want and they can be quite hilarious.
At Home
Next up, At Home – not literally at your house of course. At Home is a retail chain specializing in home decorations, furnishings, and seasonal items in-store and online. Compared to our budget, I set a goal for myself to see what I would love most out of all the spooky decorations and looked at what I could get with a “$37” budget. Of course, I also found some honorable mentions that could make spooky additions that really called out to me. And guess what? The posable skeleton made the list again!
To kick things off, I found a 70-count set of orange string lights to create the perfect eerie ambiance – whether it is indoors or on your porch. I could just imagine stringing them around the front porch posts and linking them along the top for a spooky glow. This may take a few sets of lights for full coverage, but I know one set could do some wonders.
Much like our previous purchase at Amazon, some faux spider webbing can spookify your space plenty, and what is fake spider webs without the fake spider? We found a skeleton spider that could be posed around our posts in some webbing.
For the lawn, an inflatable ghost decoration paired with a humorous tombstone is sure to add some laughs and scares to your outdoor display.
All together, these items would total around $30, leaving us some wiggle room to explore honorable mentions. Now I already warned you, but there is a $35 posable skeleton on their site that is life-size. Now imagine all the spooky and comical antics you could stage it in. Up next, there were these $17 phantoms that could be dangled down from either a tree or any other suitable space. I know we got creative with taping some wire loops on our witch hats to the ceiling of our porch – you could do the same thing here to help dangle the phantoms from yours.
If you wanted to add more to your lawn, there was a 6 piece tombstone set as well that caught my eye, and they could join the one for that particular skelly that does not wish to come back up. Lastly, there was this skeleton candy bowl that could be fun to use for not only holding candy indoors but for some trick-or-treating going on as well. Now, it may not be as much of an outdoor decoration, but it can certainly add to the Halloween fun this year.
All in all, At Home offers a fantastic array of Halloween decorations that are budget-friendly and high-quality, making your decorating dreams come true without draining your wallet.
Michaels
Next up on the list is one of my favorite shopping destinations for crafting as well as for decorations, Michaels! Michaels is a haven for crafters and decorators alike, and their Halloween selection is no exception.
There were a lot of good products under $10 each that I think together could build up nicely to a $50 budget. For a similar spooky feel, I’ve looked at lighting, skeletons, webbing, and more to get a feel for a similar – but different – Halloween scene. Here is the lineup:
- A hanging reaper for a spooky entrance
- A mini posable skeleton ready for any scene
- Some zombie hands bursting free from the ground below
- And of course, some skeletons in different yoga poses if you want a full set posed and ready for their debut on your lawn
- As well as some spider webbing
These items alone ride just under $50, and one thing to top off the budget could be trying out some different string lights that they offer. There were some normal orange string lights or purple ones, yes, but the ones that caught my attention most were the icon ones like these where the ghost icon is the light.
You could always be adventurous and try out the bigger items to fill your lawn, however, these are just some sample ideas to jumpstart your budget-friendly Halloween decor using the amazing selection at Michaels. Maybe they can become your next big seasonal shopping destination for your decorating needs, they may become mine.
Lowe’s
Now although their massive selection can reach some scary heights, Lowe’s has an amazing collection of Halloween items that can also provide a similar amount of spooky savings. Let’s dive in!
Looking at the spider webbing, you can get some incredible coverage for your porch! Ronni and I had 100 fewer square feet to work with on our choice from Amazon, and that alone worked so well to cling to all of our posts on the porch and our railings – with a lot more to spare. For less than $10, you can do so much to add to the spookiness for your porch decorations.
Seeing the choices on Michaels, the idea of icon string lights really grew on me! Both the spider lights and the pumpkin lights can work well to give your dimly lit porch that spooky vibe for Halloween night. Those lights could help the trick-or-treaters spot the free-standing spider that can join in on the Halloween fun, or they can help them spot the cute window clings on the windows.
For the final touch, I thought the “Beware” boards could add nicely to any window or door of your choice. Looking more closely at it, it comes with some double-sided tape that can support it for indoor and outdoor usage. Looks like there is no need to go out and grab any other adhesives or anything to hold the boards up, and, for less than $10, I think it would go great with all the other decorations.
Together, all of these decorations are just over $30 and can give great coverage for a low budget! You might as well throw on a few more light packs or window clings if you want to increase your budget line and get more coverage for you and your family to put up.
Target
Up next is one of my favorite stores, Target! Often it is for clothing, but I know every time I pass by a decoration aisle I just have to take a look. Their decorations are always amazing, and couldn’t help but mention their Halloween collection in this list of stores. Their collection is massive and certainly is incredible. Depending on what you get, you can stay within a $50 budget, and here are the items that caught my eye most for budget-friendliness and quality.
Now I am sure you can guess what could break the budget, but I won’t spoil it for sure yet. First of all, I love the pumpkin and zombie hand stakes. You can sprinkle them anywhere you want on your lawn, and the zombie hands would not have to go together. For three stakes on the way up to the porch, if not more, there can be some decent coverage for trick-or-treaters or other passersby on the way over to your porch. And you cannot forget the tombstones, that can be sprinkled along your yard too, and complete your Halloween decorating look.
Up on the porch, the 100ct Halloween-colored string lights can get some great coverage and set the spooky mood. To go with that, the dark and eerie fabric can drape elegantly around the siding of your porch and add to it. For the porch itself or on a little table, you could place the petite pumpkin to greet everyone as well as the spooky-looking candy bowl to serve trick-or-treaters on the spooky night.
Last, but not least, is the posable skeleton. You likely knew it was coming if you read any of the previous products mentioned, and here it is. Could it be helping lift a zombie out of the ground? Perhaps at the tombstone scene you set up? Or maybe it could greet anyone passing by or walking up. With a posable skeleton, the scene is yours to set, and you can do some great environmental storytelling with an extra $20 that can be used again at a later date. There is practically limitless potential with a posable skeleton so you can go ahead and create your own story this Halloween to go with your decorations.
